Grand Prize Winner 2016

Congratulations to our 2016 Christmas Traditions Contest $75 Grand Prize Winner: Hannah Remington!

Hannah Remington Tradition PhotoChristmas is the time for drinking eggnog, singing carols, and listening to the the story of Jesus’s birth. However, one of my favorite Christmas memories is picking out the Christmas tree. Every year we load into our Dad’s red truck, and we head off to Wahmhoff Farms. Dad would let us sit in the pickup while we shout through the peep-hole, “This is it! This is the one!” Dad would pull out his historic saw and start digging into the wood like it was gold. We’d cheer him on as his rusty old blades would screech in approval. Once the tree was cut, we’d circle around the tree, check the size, and smell the orange zest from the needles. After half an hour or so, we’d agree and pose with our new treasure. After the picture, I’d stash some pine needles in my pocket to smell later and we’d be on our way home. Getting the Christmas tree is something I’ll never forget, and it’s something I look forward to doing every year. Wahmhoff Farms never disappoints, and we’re looking forward to picking out our tree for many years to come! -Hannah Remington

Runner Up 2016

Congratulations to our 2016 Christmas Traditions Contest $50 Runner-Up: Emily Lindsay!

lindsay tradition photoGrowing up, our family was very close with three other families. Every year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, our families would all pile into our minivans and go “Christmas Tree Hunting”, a tradition that we’ve done since all of us kids were just toddlers. Now, the children are all grown with children of our own, and we’ve lost a few loved ones along the way. However, every year we all still get together (now as Grandparents/Parents/Children/Grandchildren) and go find the perfect Christmas trees at Wahmhoff Tree Farms and then eat breakfast at (formerly) Shagnasti, now Robin’s Nest. Although we had frequented different tree farms over the years, we’ve settled on Wahmhoff and have gone there for the last 5 or 6 years, at least! We’ll be back this year, with even more little ones in tow :). – Emily Lindsay
